My name is Alexis Baldwin, and this is my third year teaching second grade at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. However, it is my twenty-fifth year teaching second grade in the Archiocese of Baltimore! I am very happy to be a part of the amazing OLPH community of teachers, students, and parents.
I am a native of Catonsville, Maryland, and have lived there my entire life. I have two wonderful sons, two beautiful daughters-in-law, and four terrific grandsons who are true joys in my life! When I'm not working I enjoy spending as much time as I can with them. I also love reading all kinds of books, working outside in the garden, and relaxing on the beach of the Outer Banks with my family and friends.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Frostburg State College, which is now Frostburg University. I have achieved enough graduate credits for a master's equivalency, with a concentration in reading. I hold an Advanced Professional Teaching Certificate in Maryland, and a Catechist Certificate from the Ardiocese of Baltimore.
My sons, my late husband, and I were all fortunate enough to have had twelve years of Catholic education. We had the benefit of the most valuable education available, and it has served all of us well in our adult lives.
I love teaching second graders! Their innocence, curiosity, and eagerness to learn never ceases to amaze me. They grow in leaps and bounds from August to June, not only physically, but intellectually, academically, and spiritually as well. It has been a blessing to me that I have been a witness to such transformations over the years. It has also been my honor and privilege to assist in preparing so many children to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time. Their young hearts are so ready to receive the peace and forgiveness of Jesus, and His Body and Blood.
