Meet “Busy” Mrs. Kerns!

It has been my honor and privilege to teach Physical Education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School since 2004. I am an Adapted Physical Education Specialist with a strong concentration in Dance and Musical Theatre.  Though a former collegiate cheerleader, gymnast and gymnastics coach, performing has always been my passion.

I have been performing since age 8. I have performed in several Off- Broadway Productions including the August Wilson comedy, “The Colored Museum.” I have also participated in various tributes and performances in honor of the Historical Royal Theatre of Baltimore. In 1986, I was awarded The American Dance Team Association’s Choreographer’s Award. I have also been awarded various Outstanding Thespian Awards. Formerly, I was the principle female dancer and vocalist for The Spirit Cruise Line. Yes, I performed for The 54th Inaugural Ball for President Bush! Currently, I am the female vocalist and events coordinator for one of Washington’s premiere variety bands, as well as, a vocalist for several jazz ensembles. In 2008, my husband, saxophonist, James Kerns and I, formed our own Musical Ensemble-JAM and Friends. I have been a Dance Instructor for The Joyce LaVerne School of Dance since 1996. In addition to performing and teaching, I am the proud owner of Angels After Care, Inc.

mckenzie and martinaOh, did I mention my joy? Take a look to the left! This is McKenzie Elizabeth!

Though I am always “on the go,” I enjoy everything I do. God gave me many talents. I know He wants me to share them with the world. He wants me to share them with His Children. In all that I do, I do it for Him. As my mother has often reminded me, “You are blessed and highly favored.”
