OLPH 5th Graders Represent at the HoCo Battle of the Books
On the evening of April 20th, two teams comprised of OLPH 5th grade students competed at The Battle of the Books, hosted by the Howard County Library. As a result, OLPH's "The Book Detectives" were awarded Second Place in the Best Team Spirit category!
The teams along with their coaches, Mary Gregorini and Christine Sotaski, prepared for the contest by reading 16 pre-determined books.
John Hopkins Hospital Pediatric Oncology Unit Outreach Project
On Thursday March 22nd OLPH 8th graders along with their kindergartner "buddies" made no-sew blankets for the John Hopkins Hospital pediatric oncology unit. The outreach activity was completed in memory of two former OLPH students, Caroline Herrmann and Christopher Sliker . Both Christopher and Caroline battled pediatric brain cancer. The blankets where made of green/white and orange/white, their favorite colors.
Bull Roast 2012
It was a packed house for the 2012 Bull Roast. Thank you to everyone who made the event such a success and for those who attended! See you in 2013!
Kindergarten and 8th Grade Field Trip to Port Discovery!
A fun day was had by both big & little studenst at Port Discovery - a favorite buddy tradition at OLPH!
Honor Roll & Principal's List Scholars Honored
The Principal's List honors students who achieve an A in all academic subjects and demonstrates proficiency or very good progress in all special subjects.
Honors are awarded to students who achieve no grade less than B in all academic subjects and demonstrate at least good achievement in all special subjects.
All effort and conduct grades must be Good or above.
Read Across America: OLPH Students Celebrate the Great Dr. Suess and Reading
NEA’s Read Across America Day celbrated on March 2nd, is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place on Dr. Seuss’s birthday! The whole school - PreK to 8th grade- took an Accelerated Reader test on a DR Seuss book to celebrate!
