About Mrs. Tisha Lake

My name is Tisha Lake and I am so excited to be part of the OLPH family.  This is my fifth year teaching preschool.  I am looking forward to starting our new preschool program at OLPH.

My husband and I live in Ellicott City and we have been parishioners of OLPH for over 8 years.  My two children Catherine and Patrick attend OLPH School.  Prior to joining the teaching staff at OLPH, I was Vice President and President of the OLPH Home and School Association, a substitute teacher, and was on numerous committees for fund-raising activities for OLPH School.

My decision to pursue a career in teaching is due in part to my intrinsic desire to make a positive impact on the life of a child.  There have been so many people who have helped me establish my career goals, including my family.   I am a third generation teacher and have grown up in an environment in which education was considered paramount to future success.  I earned my Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Towson University specializing in Early Childhood Education.

Teaching is a lifelong process of learning about new philosophies, new strategies, learning from parents and the community, learning from colleagues, and especially learning from the young children.  Children have taught me to open my mind and my heart to the joys, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world.  Because of this I will never forget how to smile with the new, cherish the old, and laugh with the children.

“ Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.”
